Defend the burrow. Rally the village. Hold the line.

A pompous Empire has flown in to dig up the elemental stones beneath your village — and it treats wiping the village out as routine pest control. You're the slime who says no. Grab a weapon, rally your neighbours to the barricades and feed them stones until the invasion breaks.

Fire from Above is an action platformer, tower defense and roguelite on a single screen: you jump, shoot and haul loot in the middle of the fight while recruited slimes hold their posts around you.

How it plays

  • Defend the hatch — the entrance to your village sits at the bottom of the screen. Survive 20 waves; if the hatch falls, the run is over.
  • Fight in person — run, double-jump between floating islands and aim with your mouse. Fall in battle and you're back at the hatch about ten seconds later, minus your backpack.
  • Recruit your neighbours — give a slime a weapon and it holds a post for you. Recruits never fall, but crowding them together costs extra.
  • Grow your arsenal — merge two identical weapons into a stronger one, from level 1 to 5. At level 5 a weapon evolves, and you choose one of two evolutions.
  • Elements and hybrids — Lightning, Curse and Ice stones power your shots, and two different stones fuse into a hybrid.
  • Level up — every level offers four upgrade cards, and rarer cards show up as the waves get tougher.
  • Carry the loot home — Materials only count once you bring them back to the hatch. Spend them on recruits, upgrades and repairs.
  • Every run is different — a new map every run, randomly rolled waves, minibosses on waves 10 and 15, a boss on wave 20, and optional portals that release hunters for extra EXP if you dare.

In this test build

  • 4 weapon families: Archery, Scattergun, Laser and Sniper Rifle.
  • 3 elements — Lightning, Curse and Ice — and their hybrids.
  • 3 heroes: the Slime, plus two you earn by winning — win Normal as the Slime to unlock the Cyborg, then win Ascension 1 as the Cyborg to unlock the Cyclops.
  • 2 difficulties, Normal and Ascension 1, each with its own final boss.
  • 4 minibosses: the Twins, the Jumper, the Colossus and the Minelayer.
  • Supply drops, loot goblins and spark relays in the middle of a wave.
  • English and Polish.

You start with a bow, the Slime, Lightning and Curse — everything else is earned by playing. The full game adds more weapons, elements, heroes and Ascension levels.
